About the filmmaker
As a Producer, AP and Coordinator, I have created everything from short and long-form documentaries to PSAs and web videos. I have worked at production companies on the west coast and in Washington, DC, and my videos have appeared on cable networks and public television channels, at film festivals, on numerous websites, in a National Park Service visitor's center and at events around the world. I have a passion for environmental and social issue documentaries, but I enjoy creating any program with a good story and strong characters. What I enjoy most about filmmaking is the people I get to work with. This is what drew me to coordinating and producing - I am able to collaborate with with staff, freelancers and clients to make sure that we are creating the best film possible within the budget and schedule of the project.
I am originally from Oregon and received my bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in environmental studies from the University of Oregon. After working in television news for a year, I decided to move to Washington, DC to attend graduate film school at American University. During that time, I did research for the Center for Environmental Filmmaking to help create a code for best practices in environmental filmmaking. I also produced several student videos, including a half-hour special for Maryland Public Television that won a regional Student Emmy Award.
In 2007, I became an Associate Producer at the National Park Service and coordinated shoots around the country for Land of Dreams: Homesteading America, a film about the effects of the Homestead Act. Later, as an Associate Producer for Sapling Pictures, I helped to create promotional videos for the Discovery Channel. I also worked as a Producer and Writer for VideoTakes, Inc., where I made PSAs, advocacy films and short documentaries for a variety of clients. I am currently a Producer at WebsEdge and work directly with public and private sector organizations to help get their messages to the screen.
